While these credit card applications are a great way to open a new line of credit, if an application were to be found by another person, he or she would be able to open a new credit card account in your name without you even knowing. After opening this account that person would then be able to charge a large number of goods to this credit card where you would be liable to pay the bill. This could result in a large amount of debt under your name, ruining your credit score in the process.

Because of the sensitive information that is included in many financial statements that get mailed to your home, you will need to find a proper way to destroy these documents before throwing them into the trash so that other people cannot find your account information. If someone is able to gather your various account information, he or she may be able to spend your money without you knowing it or even worse, open up new lines of credit to rack up large quantities of debt while ruining your credit score in the process.
